Celebration Feast
Thursday, 08 November 2007 15:57

In October I was supposed to be in Uganda to visit our projects and spend time with the over 200 children we are currently feeding, counseling and providing daily needs for. But due to a medical situation (I had a brain tumor, which was removed on Sept 27) I was unable to go to Uganda.

ImageOne of my desires for the trip was to have a Celebration for the Children so they would know how very much they are loved by God and that He has NOT forgotten them!

After the surgery I wrote Rose, our director in Gulu, to ask her to go ahead with the Celebration for the Children, since they had been faithfully and fervently praying for me.   God heard their prayers and I am totally recovered.

The precious orphans we are working with had an incredible time, playing games, volleyball, soccer, singing, dancing and even killed a goat for their dinner. (Goats are only eaten on special occasions.)  This was a special occasion; God heard their prayers for me and for them!   This was a special treat for every child.   I only wish I could have been there to celebrate WITH them!

ImageWe are in the final stages of purchasing the 100 acres for the Village to be built on. The land is perfect!!! It is fertile, good water sources, 7 miles from the main highway, which makes it very safe for the children.

The individual we are buying the land from is a surveyor and is willing to file all the paperwork for us. (This is incredible, because this is what takes us so long.) We should have the land purchased in 2-3 weeks!

We originally expected the land to cost $150 per acre, which would cost a total of $15,000. But since this land is so fertile, the land will cost $180 per acre, which leaves us $3,000 short of the purchase price.

Your gift for land
will help expedite the moving of hundreds of orphans, former child soldiers, and widows to their new home!

The Safe House for the homeless orphans (formerly abducted children) in Gulu is nearing completion.  In October, 2007, the interior walls, floors and roof were completed!

Next we will be working on the plumbing, kitchen, bathrooms and getting water to the house. When this is finished we will be able to buy the furniture (3 level bunk beds), and then the 20-25 orphans will have a new home.

We need $16,000 before we can finish the final phase of the project.

Your Help is GREATLY needed.

Orphanages Selling Children?
Monday, 25 June 2007 14:39

June 20, 2007

Two orphanages in Gulu are under investigation for selling their children into slavery.

Children's issues have become a problem in Uganda; many people are taking advantage of orphans in Gulu. In today's paper there is a head line saying "Uganda Orphans On Sale Abroad". The police are investigating two orphanages that have been trafficking kids out of Uganda to sell them as slaves or sex workers in other countries in Africa and abroad. So the gorvernment is now very careful dealing with orphanages. Click here to read more details in Uganda's "The New Vision" online paper.

Our hearts break yet again as we receive news from Rose in Uganda. These are her words below…

"Well sister I had a bit of a problem, one of my children got raped by a stranger and I was so much involved with her issue the whole week. She was coming back home from the market where she was from selling some maize and it was late so she met a drank stranger who grabbed the little money she had got and raped her.

"I managed to get her to the Doctors on time and she was given prophylaxis then I took her to the police so that she could get the man identified so we are still on the look out for this man with the help of the police. Her name is Aloyoto Jovanah 13 yrs old an orphan.
